Contradiction

Text and images: Alex Yamamoto

May the strength of the fear I have not stop me from seeing what I long for.

May the death of everything I believe in Don't cover my ears and mouth Because half of me is what I scream and the other half is silence.

May the music I hear from afar be beautiful even if sad, may the woman I love be forever loved even if so far away.
Because half of me is broken, but the other half is longing.

May the words I speak not be heard as a prayer nor repeated with fervor, only respected as the only thing left for a man flooded with feelings.
Because half of me is what I hear but the other half is what I shut up.

May this desire to leave be transformed into the calm and peace I deserve and may this tension that corrodes me inside be rewarded one day.
Because half of me is what I think and the other half is a volcano.

May the fear of loneliness go away, and may living with myself at least become bearable, may the mirror reflect on my face a sweet smile that I remember seeing in childhood.
Because half of me is a memory of what I was and the other half… I don't know.

That it takes more than a simple joy to calm my spirit, and that your silence speaks to me more and more.
Because half of me is shelter but the other half is weariness.

May my madness be forgiven, because half of me is love and the other half is too...
