Minami Alps National Park
Mount Hinata is 1.660 meters high and belongs to the northern part of the Akaishi Mountain Range, between Mount Kaikoma and Mount Nokogiri.

It used to be possible to loop from the Ojiragawa Parking Lot, past several of the Ojiragawa Keikoku waterfalls, up to Hinatayama Peak and back to the parking lot, but currently, several sections are closed.

The option to go up to the peak is from Ojiragawa Parking Lot, where there is ample parking, and return along the same trail, in an approximate journey of 11 km, round trip in a time of 4 hours (2 and a half hours to go up and 1 hour and a half to descend) or the option of driving up to Yadateishi Parking Lot and walking to the top.

Departing from Yadateishi, the time decreases by an hour uphill, but it is necessary to arrive early, as the parking lot has very few spaces.

The first part of the trail is quite steep and requires a bit of effort, but from Yadateishi  the trail begins to gain height little by little zigzagging in the middle  to pine forests.

The main attraction here is not the 1660-meter landmark, which is half hidden among the trees, but Gangahara, a kind of white sand beach on the top of the mountain a few meters from the landmark.

It is also from Gangahara that you have the best view of the valley, the surrounding mountains and the city of Hokuto. On that day, the fog did not make for good photos, but on sunny days, the contrast between the white sand and the exuberance of the green yields beautiful photos and makes it worth sweating a little.
