Pagani Huayra Roadster BC: aggressive to the extreme

Pagani Huayra Roadster: An aggressive car to the limit

Is it possible to design a car as if you were composing classical music? The Italians at Pagani did it and went further. The most interesting thing is that the lineup of their supercars can be seen in Japan. On its website, the Italian company announced, in December last year, that it will open its second showroom in the Kansai region. Machines like the Huayra Roadster BC are already running on Japanese streets. It is from this fireball, still somewhat unknown to Brazilians, that Ooizine got a lot of information. Enjoy the reading, but "moderate" the speed to contemplate its details.

Who produces the Pagani Huayra Roadster

First of all, what is Pagani? It is a company that develops sports cars from carbon fiber composites. It is headquartered in San Cesario, Italy, and belongs to Argentine Horacio Pagani. In its early days, he managed Lamborghini's materials application department and, in 1988, created Pagani Composite Research to assist the Italian manufacturer. The two companies were partners in several creations such as the Lamborghini Countach and the famous Diablo model.
In 1992, Pagani founded yet another company – Pagani Automobili – to start his own automobile projects. The first prototype created was called C8 and later renamed Fangio F1, in honor of Juan Manuel Fangio. In 1995, in respect of the death of the five-time Formula 1 world champion Argentinean driver, the supercar line was again definitively renamed Zonda and was presented, in 1999, at the Geneva Motor Show, in Switzerland. In 2011, the successor to the Zonda line was announced, which is precisely the Pagani Huayra.

The aggressiveness of the Pagani Huayra Roadster

Among the Huayra, one of the most aggressive is the Roadster BC, which is a two-seater convertible version. Convertibles are usually heavy. The absence of a fixed roof makes them more vulnerable, as they can deform due to the lack of torsional rigidity when, for example, they are cornering. The way is to increase the whole structure, which leaves them with a few extra pounds. With Pagani's version, the opposite occurred. This is because Carbo-Titanium and Carbo-Triax HP52, lighter and more rigid compounds, were used throughout the structure. As a result, the weight of the Huayra Roadster BC reached just 1.250 kg, around 350 kg lighter than its peers. It seems little, but it makes a big difference on the slopes. The engine – Mercedes-AMG M-158 V12 6,0 liter biturbo – which develops around 800 hp at 6.200 rpm and 1050 Nm at 2.400 rpm, makes the car develop from 0-100km/h in just incredible 2,9 seconds.

Huayra Roadster BC: details make the difference

Sporty, fast and safe at the same time

To tame it, it was necessary to create an automated seven-speed X-Trac transmission combined with stability control and pre-programmed traction for seven driving modes. The “animal” has rear-wheel drive and is shod with Pirelli PZero tires that were developed to hold it in curves and make it stable when receiving a 2.2 G load. that work in conjunction with the active front suspension also help you stay grounded. Brembo's set of six pistons at the front and four at the back, which drive the carbon-ceramic discs, hold the beast under braking. In addition to all this, Pagani could not forget to leave one last trademark. It's the atypically shaped mirrors that resemble eyes that startle from the rest of the bodywork.
