In Japan, spring represents the beginning of a new period. It is the beginning of the school year in educational institutions, newly hired professionals are launched in the labor market and it is the beginning of the fiscal year, bringing changes in economic, political and social relations. It is also one of the most beautiful times of the year, represented by the cherry blossoms (桜), which generally occur between March and April, bringing with it one of the most admirable natural spectacles of the entire Archipelago. The custom of performing hanami, that is, contemplating the flowers, during the cherry blossom season, began around 1,3 years ago when the act was described in medieval Japanese literature novels and, since then, has become a of the main popular habits during the spring. Nowadays, people crowd the parks, spread blue tarps under the cherry trees to fraternize, relax, have picnics and enjoy the “rain” of the delicate rose petals that bloom, detach from the branches of the sakura trees, they are beautiful and, unfortunately, do not last long. It is a genuine spectacle of nature, which reminds us that life is ephemeral and should be enjoyed to the fullest. Our five hanami tips (花見) for Internet users in Guia Ooizine were chosen taking into account accessibility, facilities, local infrastructure and proximity to other attractions. Check out!
