20-year-old man found dead in detention center in Ota-shi, Gunma-ken after apparent suicide

On Thursday morning, a man held at a police detention center in Ota, Gunma Prefecture was found hanged. He was 20 years old and held in solitary confinement when the guard making the rounds discovered his body around 6:50 am. The doctor called for assistance confirmed his death at the scene. 

Police believe he used a piece of thin wire taken from the bathroom door to hang himself. No other details have yet been released about his identity and what the charge was pending against him, citing only a desire to protect the privacy of the man's family.
