Renault TREZOR: an inspiration for the future

Elected as one of the most beautiful electric cars of its generation, the Renault TREZOR Concept was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2016. Four years later, its aerodynamic lines and its connectivity with the future still serve as inspiration for new prototypes. Its main feature – hatch-like door – spurred the resurgence of several models of the genre.

The advanced design of the Renault TREZOR

The Renault TREZOR Concept is still quoted as one of the French conglomerate's main bets for the coming decades. From him, many ideas have already come out that may soon be shared in other cars from the French automaker. The coupe is extremely advanced for its time, starting with its body measuring 4,7 meters long and 2,7 meters wide for two seats. Made of carbon fiber, it weighs just 1.600 kg. Its ground clearance is about 3,0 cm. It is equipped with 21-inch front wheels and 22-inch rear wheels. To top it off, its sensual lines fit perfectly with the panoramic front glass accented in red. And the reinterpretation of the hatch-type door – a novelty in the 50s and 70s of the last century – inspired the emergence of several similar models.

A fast electric car

The Renault TREZOR Concept's electric motor is a successful recipe for Renault e.dams, the two-time Formula-E champion team, the F-1 of electric cars. It is a conjugate that combines 350 hp, developing a torque of 380 Nm and that reaches 100 km/h in less than 4,0 seconds. The engine is powered by two battery packs with independent cooling systems, which receive help from the geometric grille under the hood through which air enters, helping with cooling.

A car that unites technology and comfort

Within it, comfort and safety behind the wheel are two added qualities guaranteed by its self-driving and driver assistance system, which could soon become standard on all models of the French brand. The front panel is a configurable curved, smartphone-like, high-definition display that combines OLED diodes and Gorilla Glass, extremely thin, lightweight, and damage-resistant glass. The rectangular steering wheel gives it a final touch of refinement.

After this impeccable presentation, why can the Renault TREZOR Concept be “archived”? For those who live in Japan, it is noticeable that the bolide has on its exterior and, mainly on its interior, a bit of the Japanese technology acquired by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. It can be said that the electric coupe is the result of this union. The arrest of Carlos Ghosn, former general director and chairman of the Renault group, accusations of internal conspiracy at Nissan, which was also led by the Brazilian, and his recent cinematic escape to Lebanon, have shaken trust between the parties. Renault's automotive development sector, which benefited from this partnership, therefore faces moments of expectation and hopes that the imbroglio will be resolved as soon as possible.
